FELMÉRÉS A FELSŐOKTATÁSBAN TANULÓ MAGYAR NEMZETISÉGŰ FIATALOK MATEMATIKAI-SZAKNYELV TUDÁSÁNAK SZINTJÉRŐL

A kutatás célja feltárni a vajdasági felsőoktatási intézményekben a magyar nemzetiségű hallgatók matematikai-szaknyelv tudásszintjét és jellemző hiányosságait. A vajdasági felsőoktatási intézményekben dolgozó matematika tanárok szerint a hallgatók matematikai-szaknyelv tudásszintje igencsak szegényes, ami gondot okoz az új matematikai fogalmak megértésénél. Ezt a kutatócsoport egy kérdőív segítségével mérte fel. A kérdőív 38 kérdésből áll, amelyet a kutatás kezdeti fázisában az Újvidéki Egyetem Magyar Tannyelvű Tanítóképző Kar elsőéves hallgatói, illetve a Szabadkai Műszaki Szakfőiskola első- és másodéves hallgatói töltötték ki. A kutatócsoport a begyűjtött adatok alapján bővíteni tervezi a kérdőívet és az így kibővített kérdőív segítségével felméri a többi felsőoktatási intézményekben tanuló magyar nemzetiségű hallgatók matematikai-szaknyelv tudásszintjét.
Ez a tanulmány az előzetes kérdőív segítségével begyűjtött adatok által szerzett tapasztalatokat mutatja be, és statisztikai módszerek segítségével bebizonyítja, hogy a vajdasági felsőoktatási intézményekben a magyar nemzetiségű hallgatók matematikai-szaknyelv tudásszintje valóban alacsony.

ASSESSMENT OF THE PROFESSIONAL MATH-LANGUAGE SKILLS OF HUNGARIAN-SPEAKING STUDENTS IN HIGHER EDUCATION

The aim of the research is to reveal the level of math-language skills and typical shortcomings of Hungarian students in the higher education institutions of Vojvodina. According to mathematics professors working in higher education institutions in Vojvodina, the students’ level of math-language skills is poor, which causes problems in understanding new mathematical concepts. This claim motivated the research team to assess the level of knowledge of Hungarian students in higher education institutions in math-language skills using a questionnaire. The questionnaire consists of 38 questions, which were filled out in the initial phase of the research by the first-year students of the Hungarian Language Teacher Training Faculty, University of Novi Sad, as well as the first- and second-year students of the Subotica Tech – College of Applied Sciences. Based on the collected data, the research group plans to expand the questionnaire and, based on the expanded questionnaire, assess the level of math-language skills of Hungarian students studying in other higher education institutions.
This study presents the experiences gained from the data collected by the preliminary questionnaire, and using statistical methods proves that the students’ level of math-language skills is indeed poor.
